Keep Tony Out is a community movement based in the Warringah electorate on Sydney's northern beaches. It is the new edition of the Vote Tony Out campaign that encouraged the community to start talking about Federal representation 18 months before the 2019 election.
Keep Tony Out endorses Zali Steggall in the upcoming federal election. Zali has been a fantastic representative for our community. She is consultative, compassionate, empathic, collaborative, and extremely hard working. She has the courage to take on big tasks in Parliament and has been a great support to other Independents currently serving in the Lower House.
We have two goals.
- Firstly, to help Zali be re-elected on the primary vote. We want Warringah to be one of the first electorates called on election night.
- Secondly, we want 8-10 other community independents on the crossbench. This will help form a Minority Government.
We feel that this is the best way forward for Australia. It will ensure there's real dialogue on every piece of legislation, and that a collaborative approach will be employed to get good policy through both upper and lower houses.
Keep Tony Out is about encouraging respectful conversations between people to find common ground, and to help encourage a better form of democracy. This will help us live in a better society for the benefit of all Australians.
About this artwork: The "Love Wins" mural was created on the evening that Zali won the seat of Warringah. It's made up of hundreds of campaign flyers and measures 800mm h x 2400mm w. It now resides in Zali's electorate office.
Fun Fact: This artwork is on the back of the Love Wins mural. It is titled Lies to Create Fear and is made up of hundreds of Liberal Party flyers - that included many mistruths - that were distributed at the last election.
